Still Life with Intention

Contemplation is a charcoal drawing rendered from a still life observed directly from life — a resting Buddha figurine, an open Japanese fan, a geometric crystal vase with flowers, an incense holder, and a lotus candle. Objects of stillness and intention, arranged and drawn with quiet attention. Charcoal on paper is an intimate medium. The texture of the paper is part of the work itself — visible in the soft gradations of shadow, the delicate highlights, and the subtle grain beneath every mark.
