Icons in Fire & Purple is an intimate close-up study of California's most iconic wildflowers — golden poppies and violet lupins in a burst of color and joy. Painted with radiant intensity, each bloom glows against a warm, luminous ground, vivid and full of life.

This painting was Désirée's joyful return to oil painting after many years away — created during the pandemic, when the world slowed down and the call to paint could no longer be ignored. It was her first serious oil painting after a hiatus that began in her early teens. Painted in 2020, it marks the beginning of a new chapter.

Oil on canvas, 16"×36" (panoramic) with ¾" deep sides, painted in the same background colors, with the floral composition continuing around the edges in oil. Finished with satin-gloss varnish for long-term protection and preservation.

Icons in Fire & Purple is held in a private collection and is not available for purchase. Limited edition prints are available as canvas, framed, and unframed fine art paper prints.
